To begin with the Gaumukh pass trek, one must reach Ganhotri village, approx 240 km away from Dehradun. So no matter where you are, you must reach Dehradun, from where you can easily find buses or cabs to Gangotri village. Here are a few convenient commutes to travelling to Dehradun:

What Is The Best Time To Go On A Gaumukh Trek?
If you want to go on the Gaumukh trek, plan your trip between April to June and September to November. If you love summers, plan your hike from April to June as you will get to see the glacier meltings. And if you want to visit the trek in cool weather, go from September to November. However, you must try to avoid the monsoon weather as the trails get slippery and make it difficult for you to walk.
