How Can You Reach For The Chanshal Pass Trek?
By Road: Chandigarh has excellent road connectivity to most cities. Khuda Lahore Road, Jan Marg, Sukhna Path, Ambala-Chandigarh Expressway, and Shanti Path are the best roads and connect the city to other cities. You can easily find a bus or a taxi to Chandigarh. By Train: Get on board any train that takes you to Chandigarh Junction Railway Station. This station has direct railway connectivity from some of the major cities. By Flight: Chandigarh International Airport makes it easier for you to travel quickly from anywhere. Most cities have a direct flight to Chandigarh. However, you can easily find one or two-stop flights from other cities.

What Is The Best Time To Go On The Chanshal Pass Trek?
The weather in the Chanshal Pass is cold throughout the year, and you must carry warm clothes. If you want to see some snowfall, visit from May to July as the weather is good and you can still see snow in the mountains. Monsoon is a time you would strictly want to avoid due to heavy rainfall and slippery routes. If you want to go on a little extra cold weather, you can consider September to October starting. However, after this time, the place gets a lot colder, and you will not be able to tolerate the temperature.

Shimla Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Reach Chandigarh to start this trek.
From here, you will have to travel 112 km to reach Shimla.
Many people even prefer to take the Himalayan Expressway train to enjoy the scenic beauty.
After you reach Shimla, you can find accommodation for the night.
Spend your time in Shimla exploring the mall, going on the ropeway, visiting the zoo, and shopping at the local market.
In the evening, indulge in a tasty dinner at a local restaurant.
Later in the night, head back to your hotel and rest.
Day 2
Start your day with the sunrise and freshen up.
Relish your breakfast with the most mesmerizing view.
Today you will travel 138 km in a taxi to Larot village.
You will pass through the Pabbar Valley at Rohru village, which has many beautiful apple orchards. Here you can take a break and click amazing pictures.
When you reach the Larot village, find a campsite and settle down.
After you settle down in the camp, it's time to explore the nearby area.
In the late evening, enjoy a nice dinner under the starry sky sitting next to the bonfire.
Enjoy an overnight stay at the Larot village campsite.
Day 3
Wake up to the rays of sunrise falling on your face, and head out to enjoy a breakfast with an incredible view.
Today you will trek up to Chanshal Valley, which is 16 km from here.
As the trails are zig-zag, you must carry a hiking pole to make the hike comfortable.
You will pass through the Chanshal Pass, the highest peak situated at the height of 4,520 metres.
From The Chanshal Pass, you will be in two local villages at far- Dodra Kwar and Rohru.
This pass connects these villages.
You can even visit Saru Lake from here if you want to click fantastic landscape images. The view is undoubtedly worth the effort.
After exploring the area, it's time to return to the Larot village campsite.
At the campsite, enjoy a tasty dinner and share stories with fellow travellers while basking in the heat of a bonfire.
Spend another night gazing at the endless stars.
Head back to your tent and sleep for the night.
Day 4
Wake up early and head out to capture some perfect sunrise shots.
Enjoy your last meal with the magnificent view.
Now it's time to wrap up your things and get ready to return home.
You can directly travel to Chandigarh or enjoy an overnight stay in Shimla.
The distance from Larot to Chnadigargh is 237 km which will take around 8 hours.
Take short breaks on the way and enjoy lunch and snacks in local restaurants.
From Chandigarh, you can plan your return trip home at your convenience.

WHAT TO TAKE

  • Backpack (50 to 60 liters) A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)
  • Sturdy Trekking Shoes The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.
  • The Clothes You Should Bring On a Trek Avoid keeping extra clothes because it only makes you backpack heavy.
  • Trek Pants – The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.
  • Jacket – Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.
  • Layers of warm Clothing Carry warm woolen layers or fleece. Carry more layers during winter season (at least 2 to 3) and less during summer.
  • Thermals – The Temperature decreases at night so you might be need thermals for Night.
